Bhopal: A major tragedy was averted when a big piece of false ceiling of the emergency cabin collapsed at government hospital in Bhopal, however, no doctors and patients were injured in the incident.
As per the information, the accident happened in the new building of Hamidia Hospital at around 12.10 pm, when the false ceiling of the cabin in the emergency collapsed. At the time of incident, Chief Medical Officer Soumitra Batham was seeing patients.
The new building of Hamidia Hospital built at a cost of Rs 727 crores started its operation started a few months ago, but it could not even withstand the first rains. Around 250 to 350 patients come to the emergency every day.
The new building of Hamidia Hospital, was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in August 2023.
Earlier, a false ceiling caved in at the ICU of the child department of a hospital in Gwalior. The incident occurred on Friday in the Kamla Raja Hospital, a part of Gwalior’s famous Jayarogya Hospital. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
No newborn was present directly under the section of the ceiling that fell, thus averting a major disaster.
