Congress leader and former Union Minister Manish Tewari has waded into the controversy over Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey's 'Smash Brahminical Patriarchy' poster.

Issuing a tweet on the matter, Tewari has seemingly absolved Jack Dorsey, and contextualised the content of the placard, writing:

"Anti Bhrahmisam is the reality of Indian politics. Got accentuated in the North post Mandalisation of Indian politics . We are the new Jews of India and we should just learn to live with it."

In his tweet, he has made a reference to the reservation movement of nineties, and to the World War 2 holocaust.

The Congress politicising the matter at a time when five states are going to polls, comes two days after the Twitter CEO being photographed holding the poster triggered outrage online for demonising a specific community.

Since then, Twitter has issued two statements, one of which was made directly to Republic TV. Neither of the posters have carried an apology, even as the people in the photograph, which was clicked after a round table involving women journalists and authors, have turned on each other.

Jack Dorsey, who is on his first visit to India, had also met Congress president Rahul Gandhi -- his first high profile meeting in the country -- before also meeting PM Modi, Shah Rukh Khan and AR Rahman.

Interestingly, the controversy comes at a time when the Congress has been pivoting to present itself as a Brahmin party, with Randeep Singh Surjewala extolling Rahul Gandhi as being a Janeudhaari Hindu.
