Congress Leader's SHOCKER: 'Godhra-Like Incident Ahead Of Ram Mandir Inauguration'
Ahead of Ram Mandir inauguration, senior Congress leader BK Hariprasad has claimed that Godhra-like incident may repeat in Karnataka.
New Delhi: Ahead of the Ram Mandir inauguration, senior Congress leader BK Hariprasad on Wednesday made a shocking statement and said that a ‘Godhra-like incident may repeat in Karnataka’. BK Hariprasad's comment comes in the backdrop of the arrest of Shrikant Pujari, the Karsewak who was allegedly involved in the Ram Temple agitation that took place in Hubballi after the Babri Masjid demolition in 1992.
"What kind of agitation is this, please make me understand. If you observe the SC hearing, you can easily see that this agitation is politically motivated. You can not categorise this as a genuine protest. There is no history of demolishing one religious place to construct another. Let me be clear, this is not a religious program. Don't exaggerate it, in Karnataka, the government must take all precautions", Hariprasad said.
Making the bizarre claim, the Congress leader said, "At the same time back in Gujarat, Karsewaks were burnt alive in Godhra. They are attempting to replicate that incident in Karnataka. We must not allow such untoward incidents to happen here. We need to provide ample security to all those who visit Ayodhya. We cannot afford another Godhra in Karnataka."
Congress is ideologically corrupt
On the controversial remark made by a Senior Congress leader days ahead of temple inauguration, Anil Shetty, BJP leader in Karnataka said, "This is the height of appeasement politics... Congress is ideologically corrupt."
Echoing similar remarks, Charu Pragya, BJP Spokesperson told the Republic, "..This is a moment of celebration for the whole nation but see the kind of statement coming in from the Congress party...."
'Witch hunt against Hindus": BJP
Earlier, taking to X, (formerly Twitter), BJP had lambasted the Congress over the arrest of Shrikant Pujari. "Congress in Karnataka shamefully targets Hindu activists, arresting elderly Karsevak Shri Shrikanth Poojari in a 31-year-old fake case. As Hindus celebrate the Ram Mandir, Congress's cowardly move reflects their refusal to accept the reality of the Ram Mandir. This witch hunt against Hindus is highly condemnable."
Earlier this week, Hubballi police arrested Pujari for his alleged involvement in the riots in Hubballi post the Babri Masjid demolition in 1992. Pujari was 20 years old at the time.
