New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a scathing attack at Congress following the recent 'Rs 5,000 crore' drug bust in Delhi, saying that the party wants to take the youth of this country into the 'dark world' of drugs. He added that the involvement of a Congress leader in this incident is extremely shameful and dangerous.

In a tweet post on X, Shah said, "While on one hand the Modi Government is adopting a zero tolerance policy for 'Drug Free India', the involvement of a prominent Congress leader in the ₹ 5,600 crore drug consignment seized from North India is extremely dangerous and shameful."

"Everyone has seen the plight of youth in Punjab , Haryana and entire North India due to drugs during the rule of Congress . While the Modi government is taking the youth towards sports, education and innovation, the Congress wants to take them into the dark world of drugs," he added.

Further asserting PM Modi's govt's strong stand on 'Drug Free' India, Shah said, "The sin of Congress leaders of using their political influence to push the youth into the quagmire of drugs will never be allowed to be fulfilled by the Modi government. Our government is determined to make India a 'drug-free country' by destroying the entire drug network, without looking at the political position or stature of the drug dealers."

On Thursday, Delhi Police’s Special Cell cracked down on an Rs 5000 Cr international drug syndicate, whose mastermind has been linked with the Congress party.

The probe revealed that the alleged mastermind Tushar Goyal behind Rs 5000 crore cocaine consignment is linked to Congress . Goyal claimed during interrogation that he had served as the Chairman of the RTI Cell of Delhi Pradesh Congress until 2022. Photographs of the accused with several Congress leaders have emerged, and his social media profile identifies him as "RTI Cell Chairman, Delhi Pradesh Congress." He has created a social media account under the name Diggi Goyal.

Four individuals have been arrested so far in connection with the case. The seizure is being described as one of the largest drug busts in recent times, highlighting the significant role of the Special Cell in combatting the flow of illegal narcotics into the country.

BJP spokesperson and MP Sudhanshu Trivedi said, "Yesterday in Delhi, drugs worth Rs 5,600 crores were seized. This quantity is important as during the UPA government (2006-2013) only drugs worth Rs 768 crores were seized across India."

"The BJP government from 2014-2022 has seized drugs worth Rs 22,000 crore. The main accused and kingpin in the drug syndicate, Tushar Goyal is the chief of Indian Youth Congress RTI Cell...What relations does the Congress party have with him (Tushar Goyal)?... Was this money being used in elections by the Congress party?... Does some leaders of the Congress have any arrangements with the drug peddlers?... Congress especially the Hooda family should reply what is your connection with Tushar Goyal?..." he added further
