Coronavirus in India Updates: Delhi reports 10,756 new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said, "In addition to 8 major cities and two cities in the state, night curfew will be implemented in 17 more towns".

"12 towns of Surendranagar, Dhrangradhra, Morbi, Wankaner, Dhoraji, Gondal, Jetpur, Kalawad, Godhra, Vijalpore, Navsari, Bilimora, Vyarav, Vyapar will have night curfew from 10 pm to 6 am every night from January 22nd to January 29th", he added. 

Gujarat has reported 21,225 new COVID-19 cases with 9254 recoveries and 16 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Tamil Nadu has reported 29,870 new COVID-19 cases with 21,684 recoveries and 33 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Madhya Pradesh has reported 9603 new COVID-19 cases with 4255 recoveries and 4 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Kerala High Court has banned gatherings of more than 50 people in the Kasargod district for one week. The court issued the interim order on a plea challenging the revocation of the Kasargod District Collector's order imposing restrictions in the wake of COVID.

Chhattisgarh has reported 5029 new COVID-19 cases with 193 recoveries and 8 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Haryana has reported 9655 new COVID-19 cases with 9247 recoveries and 12 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Maharashtra has reported 48,270 new COVID cases and 52 deaths in the last 24 hours. The state has also recorded 144 Omicron cases today. 

West Bengal has reported 9,154 new COVID cases with 19,112 recoveries and 35 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Mumbai has reported 5,008 COVID cases and 12 deaths in the last 24 hours. 

Delhi has reported 10,756 new COVID-19 cases with 17,494 recoveries and 38 deaths in the last 24 hours.

According to a recent update, six members can now register using one mobile number on Co-WIN.

Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma has tested positive for COVID-19. "I am isolating myself for the required time. I have mild symptoms," he said in a tweet.

In a guideline to international travellers, the Ministry of Health stated that from Jan 22, isolation facility not mandatory for international travelers arriving from at-risk countries. As per the guidelines, "If tested positive, their samples should be further sent for genomic testing at INSACOG laboratory network. They shall be treated/isolated as per laid down standard protocol."

Delhi government has decided to allow the operation of private officers at 50% strength. While DDMA (Delhi Disaster Management Authority) has clarified that night curfew and weekend curfew would still prevail.

Considering the COVID situation, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has announced that there will be a complete lockdown all over the State on January 23 (Sunday).

"We have evolved a strategy where districts are categorised according to the occupancy of Covid patients in ICU. We have around 1,99,000 active patients now but only 3% of them are hospitalised, only 0.7% on oxygen support and 0.6% in ICU" informed, Veena George, Kerala Health Minister.

Karnataka government has decided to revoke weekend curfew restrictions considering the COVID situation. While the night curfew will continue in the state. 

Amid rising COVID-19 cases in the state, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPIM) is actively holding its district convention on Friday.

However, it has also been suggested that the status quo be maintained with regards to weekend curfew and opening of markets and decisions be taken on the subject once the COVID situation improves further: LG House

Malayalam actor Anna Ben announced that she had tested positive for COVID-19. She shared an update of her quarantine period and her symptoms.

Anna Ben shared her health update on her Instagram stories. Posting a selfie, she wrote that except for the loss of smell, she had most of the symptoms associated with the disease.

A recent study conducted by the University of California suggested that Coronavirus's effect on the spinal fluid is one of the main reasons leading to 'brain fog' in some patients. According to researchers, brain fog is a post COVID symptom, which is seen in a recovered COVID-19 patient who faces difficulty in concentration. The researchers examined the cerebrospinal fluid of COVID survivors and discovered that some samples had higher protein levels. This suggested that there was some inflammation as a result of the virus's immunological reaction.

Taking to Instagram, Anupam Kher spoke about the importance of getting vaccinated against COVID, noting that he doesn't want to die amid the COVID clutter:

Odisha on Friday reported a slight dip in fresh COVID-19 cases, as 9,833 more people tested positive for the virus, raising the tally to 11,87,295, the health department said in a bulletin. The death toll mounted to 8,507 with six new fatalities, including two in Cuttack, it said.

The state had Thursday logged 10,368 single-day infections and seven deaths.

Khurda district, where state capital Bhubaneswar is situated, registered more than a quarter of the fresh cases with 2,946 infections, followed by 1,134 in Sundargarh and 774 in Cuttack, the bulletin said.

On Thursday, Haryana reported 9,558 new COVID-19 cases, Active case stands at 61,620, positivity rate 20.10%

Use of antivirals or monoclonal antibodies is not recommended for those less than 18 years of age, irrespective of severity of Covid infection, and if steroids are used, they should be tapered over 10 to 14 days, subject to clinical improvement, the government said on Thursday.
