COVID-19 LIVE Updates: India as on December 31, reported a single-day rise of 312 fresh COVID-19 cases while the active tally further surged 4,039, the Health Ministry data showed on Sunday. Three deaths were reported in the last one day, pushing the country's death toll 5,33,361. The fatalities were reported from Bihar, Kerala and Karnataka. As of Sunday, Maharashtra topped the list withy 134 fresh cases, followed by Karnataka reporting 131 cases. Worst hit-state Kerala saw a relief in the number of daily cases reported. The southern state saw a discharge of 344 patients, and the active tally now stands at 2,082.

Maharashtra logs 134 cases in last 24 hours, staying at top in the list.

Karnataka comes next in the list with reporting with 131 cases.

Andhra Pradesh has been witnessing a hike in the COVID-19 cases with 15 new cases reported, the tally now stands at 83.
