As BJP leaders Nitesh Rane, Cabinet Minister Dada Bhuse and BJP MLA Ashish Shelar made sensational claims that UBT Nashik Unit president Sudhakar Badgujar had partied with 1993 blasts accused and underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's close aide Salim Kutta, Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis in the assembly assured a detailed investigation by SIT. During discussions in the assembly pertaining to Salim Kutta, numerous details emerged shedding light on his activities. Sources close to Maharashtra Police disclosed that the accused, Mohammad Salim Meera Shaikh, alias Salim Kutta, allegedly operated an extortion racket from within prison, leveraging the name of underworld don Chhota Shakeel to intimidate individuals and extort money.

"Salim Kutta used to threaten well-known people and builders while in jail and his henchmen stationed outside the prison used to collect the money on his behalf," sources revealed. They also said that businessmen and builders were too scared by the threats and they refrained from lodging any complaints against Salim Kutta. Police have now issued a plea urging individuals affected by these alleged threats and extortion to come forward and officially register complaints. This call comes in a bid to facilitate a more comprehensive investigation into the matter.

This action was allegedly carried out at the behest of Mohammed Dossa, resulting in Salim Kutta's conviction and a subsequent life sentence. Salim was found guilty of distributing explosives and ammunition as part of the plot behind the 1993 serial blasts.

Sources further informed that Maharashtra Police have initiated an investigation into potential financial transactions involving Sudhakar and Salim Kutta or their associates. "We are verifying if at all any funds were exchanged and where was it used," said sources.
