New Delhi: Delhi Police's Special Cell achieved a significant breakthrough by busting an interstate Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) syndicate. The arrested individuals, identified as Asif Ali, Danish Ali, and Sartaj Khan, have reportedly been involved in printing and supplying FICN for the past five years. The operation unfolded after a tip-off about Asif's engagement in the printing and trafficking of fake Indian currency notes.

Sources were deployed to gather specific information about Asif, his modus operandi, and other syndicate members. The investigation revealed that Asif and his associates, numbering 2-3, would rendezvous near the Akshardham Metro Station in the intervening night of December 30, 2023, carrying a substantial quantity of fake Indian currency notes, which they would then supply to their associates in Delhi.

Acting on the tip-off, a team set up a trap at Noida Link Road near Akshardham Metro Station to apprehend the accused. Asif Ali, Danish Ali, and Sartaj Khan were intercepted and apprehended after a brief scuffle when they arrived at the location in a Mahindra TUV car around 10:00 p.m. Fake Indian currency notes amounting to Rs 50,00,000 (fifty lakh) in the denomination of 500 were recovered from their possession.

Further investigation is underway, and a case under relevant provisions of the law was registered against them at PS Special Cell, Delhi. The accused were taken into police custody (PC) remand for four days. During PC remand, a complete FICN printing setup, including raw materials, high-quality laptops and printers, and other equipment, was discovered at their hideout in Sahaswan, Badaun, Uttar Pradesh.
