Karnataka: ED Raids Congress MLA's Kolar Residence in Alleged Recruitment Scam

The ED conducted raids at the residence of Congress MLA KY Nanjegowda, who is also the president of the Kolar-Chikkaballapur Milk Union Ltd (KoChiMul).

Bengaluru: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Monday conducted a massive search operation at the residence of Congress MLA from Malur (Karnataka), KY Nanjegowda, who is also the president of the Kolar-Chikkaballapur Milk Union Ltd (KoChiMul). The raids were conducted after the allegations of malpractices, in the recruitment process conducted by Kochimul recently, came to fore.

The ED raided the MLA’s house and the Nanjundeshwara stone crusher unit at Kommanahalli and also examined documents at the KoChiMul office in Huttur in Kolar district. It was alleged that there was large scale corruption in the recruitment procedure.

The team of over 20 ED officials conducted simultaneous raids at around four locations linked to the MLA and his close associate. It is being said that locations related to KoChiMul managing director, administrative manager and residence of director were also searched.

Documents were verified at all the locations. Additionally, the officials also detained Nanjegowda’s auditor from his office at Gowripet in Kolar. If sources are to be believed, the central probe agency has detected a trail of crores of rupees in the alleged scam.
