Locals thrash relatives of eloped woman on suspicion of abductors in Kota

Police sources claim that the injured persons are relatives of a woman from Karauli, who had eloped with her Kota-based friend.

Four people were allegedly caught and thrashed by local residents in Rajasthan’s Kota district on the suspicion of abductors. As per information, the locals caught hold of all the four people after they suspected them to be roaming in the area with an intention of abducting a woman.

A police official said that incident occurred on Wednesday in the Nanta area of Kota, after which the four victims were taken to hospital for treatment. A legal action has been initiated in the matter.

Police initiate an inquiry into the matter

Police sources claim that the injured persons are relatives of an adult woman from Rajasthan’s Karauli district, who had eloped with her Kota-based friend. They were roaming in the area to enquire about her relative on Wednesday, when the incident took place.

It is being said that the relatives of the woman were accompanied by a police constable from Karauli, who was in plain clothes during the incident. They were enquiring about the woman, when the scuffle broke out.

Superintendent of Police (Karauli), Mamta Gupta said that the woman's family members had registered a missing report with the local police station. The adult woman eloped with her partner some time ago and has been living with him in the Nanta area.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the locals suspected them to be a fake police team roaming the area with the intention to abduct the woman. Further inquiry into the matter is being carried out.
