Man arrested from Gujarat for sending threat mail to RBI

Mumbai: The Mumbai Crime Branch nabbed a man from Vadodara in Gujarat in connection with a threat mail sent to Reserve Bank of India (RBI) office, police said on Wednesday. The Reserve Bank of India had on Tuesday received a threat email claiming that bombs would be planted in its office, HDFC and ICICI banks. 

The email demanding the resignation of RBI governor Shaktikanta Das and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, claimed bombs at 11 places in Mumbai. After receiving the information, police went to the places and investigated the areas but found nothing.  

“Mumbai Crime Branch arrested the person from Vadodara, Gujarat who sent a threatening email to the RBI office. A case was registered in this regard and the probe was launched. The crime branch is questioning the accused as to why the threatening email was sent”, reported news agency ANI quoting Mumbai Police as saying.
