Republic Media Network has accessed exclusive details of the National Investigation Agency's (NIA) probe in an ongoing Islamic State terror conspiracy case, concerning a conspiracy linked to ISIS, with the aim to carry out terror attacks nationwide. 

The NIA on Saturday conducted raids at 44 locations across Maharashtra and Karnataka in an Islamic State terror conspiracy case.

It revealed that terrorist Areeb Majeed 'hatched conspiracy to carry out terror acts.'

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted raids across 44 locations in Karnataka and Maharashtra concerning a conspiracy linked to ISIS, with the aim of carrying out terror attacks nationwide, as per reports.

The searches covered one site in Karnataka, 2 in Pune, 31 in Thane Rural, 9 in Thane city, and one in Bhayandar. According to reports, NIA raids targeted the Padgha area of Thane district, resulting in several detentions. The ongoing operation includes 40 different locations in Maharashtra, including Thane, Pune, and Mira Bhayander.

NIA takes charge, files first case in Raj Bhavan petrol bomb attack probe in Tamil Nadu

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) initiated a case on Saturday, December 9, after assuming control of the investigation into the alarming incident involving the hurling of Molotov cocktails, also known as petrol bombs, outside the Tamil Nadu Raj Bhavan in Chennai on October 25.

The case, which initially resulted in the immediate arrest of Karukka Vinoth, a known history sheeter, saw the incident marked by the lobbing of two petrol bombs at the main gate of the Raj Bhavan, the official residence of the state's Governor RN Ravi. Subsequently, action was taken by the local police, leading to the apprehension of Vinoth, the prime suspect behind the attack. However, several weeks after the initial incident, the case was transferred to the NIA.

NIA has as of now seized huge amounts of unaccounted money, firearms, sharp-edged weapons, incriminating documents, smartphones and other digital devices during the raids.

NIA raids: 15 detained so far in raids

As the National Investigation Agency (NIA) raids multiple locations in Maharashtra and Karnataka, it has manage to detained around 15 people related to the case.

The 40 different places being raided in Maharashtra include Thane, Pune, Mira Bhayandar, sources said. Most of these places are in Thane Rural (31) and Thane city (9), right next to Mumbai. In Pune, two places are being raided and one in Mira Bhayandar, they added.

NIA raids: Past raids and arrests by the investigating agency

In August, a suspect - Aakif Ateeque Nachan - allegedly involved in making explosives was arrested, the sixth accused to be ever arrested in an ISIS terror module case. 

Five others -- Tabish Nasser Siddiqui from Mumbai, Zubair Noor Mohammed Shaikh alias Abu Nusaiba and Adnan Sarkar from Pune, and Sharjeel Shaikh and Zulfikar Ali Barodawala from Thane -- were arrested by the agency a month earlier.

NIA raids: Anjum Ali Bape family raided, son narrates incident, says father's phone seized

The NIA team raided Anjum Ali Bape's family in Rabri's Chandiwala apartment. Anjum Ali Bape's son said that at around 4 am, 4 to 5 NIA officers and 10 to 15 local police officers were standing below the building. Anjum Ali Bape's son Asjhad Ali Bape said that ‘’when the NIA team came to the house, they first called my father Anjum Ali Bape and questioned him and started collecting information. My father Anjum Ali Bape is an architect and makes designs etc. The NIA team also started investigating the architecture made by my father. After this, the phone that my father had was also seized by the NIA.''

NIA Raids: 80 vehicles enter Padga's Boriwali village | 15 suspects to be produced in Patiala court

The NIA raids are underway in Karnataka and Maharashtra. According to sources, 80 vehicles of NIA entered Padga's Boriwali village. The operation started at around 2:30-3 AM at midnight on December 9.

The SRPF, CRPF and local forces were deployed in the village. Fifteen people were picked from the same village in Padga. The sources further said that the suspect will be taken to Delhi and likely to be produced in Patiala court.
