Ahmedabad: A dead cockroach was allegedly discovered in the sambar served to guests at the five-star hotel Hyatt Ahmedabad in the Vastrapur area on Wednesday morning.
The incident led to swift action from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC), which sealed the hotel's kitchen for 48 hours.
Guest's Video and Complaint Prompt Immediate Response
The incident occurred during a function at the hotel when a guest found the cockroach in his sambar.
He immediately alerted the hotel management and recorded a video of the discovery. Bhavin Joshi, the designated officer of AMC's Food Department, confirmed the complaint was lodged through the AMC's official portal.
Unhygienic Conditions Lead to Kitchen Closure
Following the complaint, AMC officials inspected the hotel's 'Indian Kitchen' section and found it to be in an unhygienic state.
"We discovered unsanitary conditions in the kitchen, leading to its immediate closure," said Joshi.
The AMC's closure notice, posted on the kitchen door, states that the area will remain shut for 48 hours to protect public health.
The notice also warns that reopening the kitchen without proper authorization will result in legal action.
