NEW DELHI: As the entire country is gearing up for celebrations ahead of the grand inauguration of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Thursday requested the Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia to start an air service from Dehradun to Ayodhya Dham, to facilitate ease of travel for devotees between the two states known for having most pilgrim spots.
Taking to ‘X’, Dhami said: “Uttarakhand – being the land of gods — remains a center of pilgrimage for devotees from across the country”.
“With the start of direct air service from Dehradun to Ayodhya Dham, the devotees of the state as well as different states of the country will benefit from it”, he further mentioned in his post on ‘X'.
A day earlier, Dhami had reportedly told officials that the programmes to be held on Uttarayani – a festival celebrated in Uttarakhand on the occasion of Makar Sankranti – "should be based on Lord Ram and the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya”.

Meanwhile, CM Pushkar Dhami also appealed to the citizens to undertake 'kalash yatra', organize 'Ram katha', besides encouraging the residents to participate in the cleanliness drive at various ghats.
Echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's sentiment, he also urged the citizens at large to celebrate ‘deepotsav’ by lighting diyas in their homes.
