New Delhi: A massive fire broke out at a factory at Bhorgarh in Delhi's Narela Industrial Area in the early hours of Saturday, leaving at least three dead and six injured. According to sources, the flames erupted at food processing unit.

The fire department received a call around 3.45am. Around 14 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to carry out the dousing operations. There were reports of some people being trapped following which nine of them were rescued. The deceased have been identified as Shyam (24), Ram Singh (30) and Beerpal (42). The injured were receiving treatment.

Gas Leak Cause Blast

Preliminary investigation suggests that raw green gram were being roasted on gas burners and a gas leak on one of the pipelines caused the fire to spread which led to overheating of the compressor, resulting in a blast.

The fire fighting operation is underway. An official from Delhi Police said, “A case is being registered under appropriate sections and investigation being taken up.”
