A young boy from Delhi was forcefully stripped and beaten up inside a moving bus of Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) on Thursday last week in New Delhi, after the passengers allegedly suspected him of stealing in the bus. A passerby had recorded a video of the shocking incident on his phone. In his statement on Twitter, he wrote, “This video is of August 29, 2019, inside bus no. DL1PC1139, route 165A, Anand Vihar. The boy was beaten by a mob and had his clothes forcibly removed on suspicion of theft. He was then thrown out of the bus while he was naked. @DelhiPolice must take action against these barbarians.”

Young boy stripped and thrown off the bus

In the video, the boy is standing shirtless in the bus, surrounded by the mob that is harassing him. Another man standing next to him forces the boy to remove his pants. The naked boy was then thrown off the bus. According to a passenger, even though several people were present on the bus, none of them attempted to save the boy. Even the DTC staff has failed to report the incident to the authorities. The police have said that the investigation of the incident is on and strict legal action will be taken against the mob.

In another such incident of mob violence, a minor boy was brutally thrashed to death in Delhi’s Lal Bagh area in Adarsh Nagar in July this year. He had entered his neighbour's residence at night when they took the former as a thief. As the neighbours raised a voice, people gathered and started thrashing the boy. The police immediately rushed him to the hospital, but he succumbed to the injuries the same evening. The police have held 6 people in connection with the incident.
