New Delhi: Liquor shops in the national capital will remain closed on national holidays in the month of October and November, the Excise Department said in a statmenṭ.

"In pursuance of the provisions of Rule 52 of Delhi Excise Rules, 2010, it is hereby ordered that the following dates shall be observed as “Dry Days” in the National Capital Territory of Delhi," the notification by the Excise Department read.

"The restriction of the sale of liquor on dry days shall not apply to the service of liquor to residents in case of hotels having L-15 and L-15F license," it stated further.

It further stated that other than national holidays, the sale of liquor in Delhi is also prohibited on October 3 and 5 for some time and on October 8.

October 2- Gandhi Jayanti
October 5- Election-related
October 8- Counting of votes for Haryana assembly elections
October 12- Dussehra
October 17- Valmiki Jayanti
October 31- Deepawali

Furthermore, the dry day will be observed for 48 hours before the end of the polling, from 6 pm on October 3 until 3:00 pm on October 5.
