Delhi Police Crime Branch Cracks Sensational 2004 Murder Case, Arrests Parole Jumper

The Delhi Police Crime Branch has apprehended a parole jumper, convicted of murdering his sister-in-law, from Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur.

New Delhi: The Delhi Police Crime Branch has apprehended a parole jumper, convicted of murdering his sister-in-law, from Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur. The accused, who committed the crime in 2004, was arrested by the police on a secret information in Kanpur. The accused, identified as Suresh Kumar alias, was also carrying a reward of Rs 5,000 on his arrest. The murder incident dates back to September 22, in the year 2004, when Suresh Kumar brutally killed his sister-in-law, a resident of Jahangir Puri, Delhi. The victim was the wife of Suresh Kumar's brother. 

Following the murder, the accused was arrested, convicted, and sentenced to life imprisonment. However, he was granted parole in January 2010 and failed to surrender, prompting a massive manhunt.

A team of Crime Branch led by Inspectors Yogesh and Vinado Yadav along with SI Imran, Umardeen, Gurmeet, Devi Dayal, Dipender, Head Constables Rajbir, Parmanand, Ramnaresh, Constable Kuldeep and Woman Ct Shikala, under the supervision of ACP Umesh Barthwal, apprehended the accused based on secret information, after working tirelessly to track down the convict.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Aditya Gautam stated, "The team of NDR, Crime Branch was in search of parole jumper/rewarded accused Suresh Kumar alias Sajju. Efforts were being made to trace him and sources were developed. Accused was of very shrewd mind and aware of police’s tactics & hence he was not using any mobile phone."

"During the search of the accused, the team visited his old residence in Delhi & also his native place in UP. Finally, one reliable source of Ct. Kuldeep gave information that he may be found in Kanpur, UP. So, the team immediately reached Kanpur and started looking for him. Finally, after three days, the untiring efforts of the team paid fruitful results and the accused Suresh Kumar, who was running a tea stall at Kanpur's Azad Nagar, was apprehended from Kanpur on 23.02.25," the DCP stated.

During interrogation, Suresh Kumar confessed to the crime, stating that he killed his sister-in-law on September 22, 2004. He also revealed that he was aware of the police's tactics and had been evading arrest for over 15 years.

Further legal action into the matter is being taken.
