'Don't Mislead Innocent Muslims': Kiren Rijiju's Message to Controversial Preacher Zakir Naik
Rijiju slammed Islamic preacher Zakir Naik for spreading false propaganda and misleading people in his recent post on the Waqf Amendment Bill.
New Delhi: Union Minister Kiren Rijiju slammed Islamic preacher Zakir Naik for "false propaganda and misleading people" regarding the government's Waqf Amendment Bill.
In response, Rijiju condemned Naik's claims and said, "Please do not mislead the innocent Muslims from outside our country."
"India is a democratic country and people have the right to their own opinion. False propaganda will lead to wrong narratives," it added.
What Did Zakir Naik Say?
Amid the raging controversy over the Wqaf Bill, Islamic preacher Zakir Naik, who is currently wanted in India on charges of money laundering and hate speech, in a post on social media said, "Save Indian Waqf Properties, Reject The Waqf Amendment Bill!"
Sharing a QR Code in the post he urged people to send “rejection to Waqf Bill to Joint Parliamentary Committee,” and mentioned that the due date is September 13.
Emphasising it as an urgent call to the Muslims in India, he said they have to "Say no to the Waqf Amendment Bill!
"Let’s stand together to defend the sanctity of Waqf and ensure its preservation for future generations," the post reads.
"This is an urgent call to the Muslims in India to stop this evil which breaches the sacred status of waqf, and has evil repercussions on the future of Islaamic institutions. We will bear Allah’s wrath and the curse of subsequent generations, if we allow this bill to pass," it added.
"At least 5 million Muslims of India should send their rejection of the Waqf Amendment Bill."
"As Muslims of India, we will be held accountable if we do not prevent the Muslim Waqf properties from being taken away from the Ummah," Zakir said in the post.
