US defence secretary Mark Esper arrived in New Delhi on Monday at the start of a visit to India. He was welcomed by his Indian counterpart, Rajnath Singh, and given a guard of honour.

US defence secretary Mark Esper arrived in New Delhi on Monday at the start of a visit to India. He was welcomed by his Indian counterpart, Rajnath Singh, and given a guard of honour.
Esper is visiting India alongside US secretary of state Mike Pompeo. They're in the country to take part in bilateral talks called the India/US 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue, which bring together the defence and foreign ministers of the two nations for annual discussions.
The formal talks due to take place tomorrow.
