Executive Producer of Telugu Film Industry Dies By Suicide in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A woman executive film producer, working in the Telugu film industry, allegedly died by suicide at her rented apartment in Hyderabad’s Madhapur area. The incident reportedly took place on Thursday, however, the dead body was recovered on Saturday from her rented flat located in the Kavuri Hills area.

According to the police, it surfaced during the preliminary inquiry, that the deceased was upset over not getting work and ended her life. She is suspected to have died on Thursday, but the incident came to light on Saturday, after the neighbours sensed foul smell emanating from her house.

During Inquiry, It Was Found That Lack of Work Pushed Her In Depression: Police

The deceased has been identified as Swapna Varma (33), a native of Rajahmundry in Andhra Pradesh, who was working in the Telugu film industry for the past three years. She moved into the flat about a year ago and was staying there alone.

The police said that during the inquiry, it was found that in the beginning of her career, Swapna Varma got to work in some projects, subsequently her opportunities allegedly started diminishing, pushing her into depression.

Police sources said since the past six months, Swapna had no work and was upset over the same.

She is suspected to have hanged herself from the ceiling fan in the bedroom. On Saturday, her neighbours sensed a stench from her flat and immediately alerted the police. The door was forcibly opened and her decomposed body was found in the house.

The Madhapur police are investigating. The body was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
