New Delhi: On Prime Minister Narendra Modi's 74th birthday, the NDA government marked 100 days in power of his third term. During this period, the administration has achieved magnificent progress in sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, and employment. Modi's government has focused on achieving targets set before the 2024 general election, with notable progress in various policy and project goals.
PM Modi assumed office for the third consecutive term on June 9 this year. During these 100 days, large-scale projects were approved, signaling the BJP -led NDA government's commitment to fostering economic growth through infrastructural development. The emphasis has been on increasing capital expenditure, estimated at Rs 11.11 lakh crore, aimed at job creation and improving connectivity in remote regions of India. Modi's administration has also focused on policies that streamline business practices and support innovation in the private sector.
Key Infrastructure Developments of Modi 3.0
Wadhavan Mega Port: A Rs 76,200 crore investment was approved for the Wadhavan Mega Port in Maharashtra , which is projected to be among the top 10 ports in the world.
Prime Minister’s Rural Roads Scheme-4 (PMGSY-IV): Approval for the construction and upgrading of 62,500 km of roads and bridges was granted, with the aim of connecting 25,000 unconnected villages. A central assistance of Rs 49,000 crore has been allocated to this effort.
National High-Speed Road Corridors: An investment of Rs 50,600 crore was approved, including eight high-speed road corridor projects spanning 936 km.
Railway Projects: The government sanctioned eight new railway line projects, anticipated to generate 4.42 crore human-days of employment.
Metro Expansion: The expansion of Phase 3 of the Pune Metro, Bangalore Metro and the Thane Integral Ring Metro Rail Project has been approved, along with new airstrip developments in Lakshadweep.
Agricultural Initiatives of Modi 3.0
The Modi government has also prioritised agricultural reforms during his first 100 days of the third term:
MSP and Export Regulations: The minimum support price (MSP) for Kharif crops has been increased, benefiting approximately 12 crore farmers by Rs 2 lakh crore. The government also removed the minimum export price on onions and basmati rice while increasing duties on the import of palm, soybean, and sunflower oils to support domestic farmers.
Agrisure Fund: A new fund, Agrisure, has been launched to revolutionize the agricultural sector by supporting startups and rural enterprises.
Prime Minister Kisan Samman Nidhi: The 17th installment of this scheme saw Rs 20,000 crore distributed to 9.3 crore farmers. Till date, Rs 3 lakh crore has been distributed to 12.33 crore farmers across India.
Employment and Business Reforms of Modi 3.0
Venture Capital for Space Startups: A Rs 1,000 crore venture capital fund has been set up to support startups in the space sector, alongside the launch of the GENESIS program, which aims to boost innovation in Tier-II and Tier-III cities.
Employment and Skill Development: A Rs 2 lakh crore package has been introduced to promote skill development and employment for the youth. Over 15,000 new appointments have been made, and 1 crore youth will receive internships at top companies.
Ease of Doing Business : Reforms have been made to reduce corporate tax and abolish the angel tax to create a more business -friendly environment.
Social Welfare and Empowerment of Modi 3.0
Housing Initiatives: Under the 'Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana,' 3 crore houses were approved, contributing to the 4.27 crore homes already built.
Women Empowerment: Over 11 lakh women received certificates as "Lakhpati Didis," marking a significant milestone in the women empowerment drive, with over 1 crore women now earning more than Rs 1 lakh annually.
Tribal Village Campaign: The development of 63,000 tribal villages is underway, aiming to uplift the socio-economic status of 5 crore tribals.
Healthcare and Education Projects of Modi 3.0
Medical Education: The addition of 75,000 new medical seats has been approved, and a centralized National Medical Register is being created to improve healthcare delivery across India.
Unified Pension Scheme: A Unified Pension Scheme has been introduced, guaranteeing government employees with 25 years of service a pension of 50 percent of their average basic salary.
Security and Digital Initiatives of Modi 3.0
Cybersecurity Initiatives: The 'Samanvay' platform has been introduced to combat cybercrime. Additionally, 5,000 cyber commandos will be trained over the next five years, and a Cyber Fraud Mitigation Center has been set up.
Peace Agreement in Tripura: A landmark peace agreement was reached with rebel groups in Tripura, bringing 328 armed cadres into the mainstream.
In its first 100 days, Modi 3.0 has focused on wide-ranging reforms and projects, signaling a strong start in addressing India’s infrastructural, economic, and social challenges. These developments highlight the government's goal of creating a more connected, inclusive, and prosperous India.
