Parliament security breach accused Neelam Azad's brother Ram Niwas was presented before the Patiala House Court on December 19 as the investigation into the case picks pace. 

Republic sources revealed that Neelam's family has demanded to meet with her while she remains in police custody for interrogation. They also requested a copy of the FIR in the petition filed by Ram Niwas.

"In our petition, we have sought that permission be given us to meet Neelam and FIR copy be provided," said Ram Niwas. Neelam's family has filed a plea in Patiala House Court against denial of access to the FIR and the restriction on meeting the family.

According to sources, he claimed that a Delhi Police team came to his village and tried to get his signature on a blank paper.

In response, the Court asked why the petitioner is requesting for reliefs on all fronts in one application.

Delhi court defers pronouncement of orders 

The Delhi Court has deferred the pronouncement of orders on the application moved by parliament security breach Neelam's family. They had moved the application seeking a copy of the FIR and permission to visit the accused.

The court is now likely pronounce the orders on December 21. Sources revealed that Delhi Police's lawyer demanded the rejection of Neelam's brother's application.

Four of the six arrested accused - Manoranjan D, Sagar Sharma, Amol Shinde and Neelam Azad- were sent to 7-day police custody last Thursday. Neelam (42) was one of the two accused who ignited smoke canisters outside the Parliament while yelling slogans 'Tanashahi nahin chalegi' (dictatorship will not be tolerated).

Last week, Ram Niwas revealed that he learned about his sister's arrest from TV. “I got a call from my elder brother to switch on the TV immediately. He told me that Neelam was arrested in Delhi," he told PTI.

"Her certificate of Haryana Teachers Eligibility Test had expired. I asked her to go to Hisar and get coaching for the same," he further revealed.

Neelam is a resident from Hisar near the Red Square Market and she has previously been involved in multiple protests including the farmers' agitation in February 2021.
