Four dacoits arrested with arms in West Bengal

Four dacoits were arrested near Canning in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas district and a cache of arms and ammunition seized from their possession in early hours of Wednesday, police said.

Acting on a tip-off, police personnel conducted a search operation in Jharkhali market ghat area and arrested the four when they assembled to commit dacoity, a senior officer said.

Four firearms and ten rounds of ammunition were seized from their custody, he said. During the operation, three others of the gang managed to escape from the spot, he added.
