Ranchi: Four youth lost their lives in a road accident in Jharkhand’s Ranchi in the early hours of Thursday, said police. The incident was reported between Booty Chowk and Dumardaga at around 1.30am in Sadar police station area, they said. Police said that a speeding car, that went uncontrolled, overturned after hitting an electric pole. The injured were rushed to a hospital where they were declared brought dead.
“The car, which was possibly travelling in breakneck speed, hit an electric pole and then overturned. The impact was so strong that the pole broke into three pieces." The youths, aged around 30 years, died on the spot. "They were brought to Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (RIMS) where doctors declared them brought dead," reported news agency PTI quoting Sadar police station in-charge Laxmikant as saying.

All the four deceased were residents of Ranchi's Bariatu Basti. The bodies have been sent for postmortem. Further investigation into the matter is underway.
