New Delhi: The Meghalaya government on Wednesday announced the integration of QR codes into school textbooks. This initiative, revealed by Education Secretary A Marak, aims to provide students with easy access to supplementary information and enrich their learning journey.

The primary objective behind embedding QR codes in textbooks is to enhance students' time management skills and empower them with additional knowledge resources. "We are adding quick response (QR) codes to school textbooks that will be embedded with additional information on a particular subject. The aim is to reinforce students' ability to manage time well and gain further knowledge as per one's choice," explained Marak.

How will the QR code work?

By simply scanning these QR codes with their mobile devices, students can unlock a treasure trove of educational apps featuring video lessons and solved question papers. This innovative approach not only reduces the time spent searching for study materials but also enables students to concentrate more effectively on their learning.

Director of the Directorate of Educational Research and Training (DERT), R Manner, underscored the potential benefits of this technological integration. He highlighted that QR codes could significantly assist students in self-improvement efforts within specific subjects.

Education Minister Rakkam A Sangma lauded the initiative, emphasizing the government's commitment to providing comprehensive educational resources to students across Meghalaya.

This progressive step heralds a new era in Meghalaya's education system, promising to streamline and enrich the learning experience for students statewide. The integration of QR codes in textbooks is poised to revolutionize how students engage with their study materials, blending traditional learning with digital advancements for a more efficient and accessible educational journey.
