Delhi LG interacts with Islamic religious leaders as part of 'Samvaad at Raj Niwas' initiative

Delhi LG VK Saxena interacted with imams, aalims and muazzins from various Delhi mosques as part of his dialogue initiative ‘Samvaad at Raj Niwas’.

Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, VK Saxena on Saturday interacted with hundred imams, aalims and muazzins from across the national capital as part of his dialogue initiative ‘Samvaad at Raj Niwas’. The event also marked the started of the initiative. During the event, imams, aalims and muazzins from various Delhi mosques joined the interaction at the LG’s residence.

A senior official said that LG VK Saxena has been holding such interactions ever since he assumed office in May 2022. But, this is the first time the interaction has been formally given a shape of the initiative by the LG.

LG is likely to meet farmers, local residents during next interaction

A statement was issued by the Raj Niwas related to the event, following the conclusion of the interaction event. According to the statement, in the 18 months since VK Saxena took over as LG, he has met over 50,000 people belonging to varied sections in formal and informal gatherings at the Raj Niwas. On an average, the LG meets around 3,000 people every month.

After taking the charge as the LG of Delhi, Saxena had announced that rather than being the Lt Governor he would strive to serve as a local guardian of the national capital. He had added that to ensure that everyone should have the access to meet their LG, he would open the doors of Raj Niwas to the people, the statement read.

Further, the LG is likely to meet farmers from different villages in Delhi and local residents from different residents welfare associations and market associations. The interaction will take place on ‘Dilli Gramodaya Abhiyaan’ under the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on January 2, 2024.
