Pune: Murlidhar Mohol, the Minister of State (MoS) for Civil Aviation and the Pune MP on Monday, announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the new terminal at Pune Airport will commence its operations from Sunday, July 14. This airport will soon have the capacity to handle sixteen million passengers per year with the new addition of Terminal 2. The one is for domestic flights and the other is for International Flights

"Pune Airport’s new terminal to be functional from this Sunday! After completing the requirements of CISF personnel & other technicalities, the new terminal of Pune Intl Airport is set to be at the service of citizens from 14th July, Sunday. As an inaugural gesture, I will be handing over the boarding card to the first passenger at 1 PM (sic)," the Union Minister wrote.

Last week, he mentioned that Union Home Minister Amit Shah had sanctioned the additional 222 Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel required for the new terminal to start its operations.

This year in March, Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the newly constructed 51,595 square meter terminal, which came at an expense of Rs 423 crore. Nonetheless, the need for more CISF personnel hadn't been satisfied, which delayed its operationalization.
