SIT formed to probe firing case involving Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi

Rajasthan: In response to the recent firing incident involving Karni Sena Chief Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to thoroughly investigate the matter. Heading this crucial inquiry is Shri Kailash Chand Vishnoi, the Additional Commissioner of Police from (1st) Jaipur, informed Rajasthan Police. 

How was Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi killed? 

Right-wing group Shri Rashtriya Rajput Karni Sena's president Sukhdev Singh Gogamedi was shot dead by unidentified assailants here on Tuesday, police said.  According to police, the incident took place in the Shyam Nagar area this afternoon, PTI reported. "As per initial reports, four people entered a house where Gogamedi was present and opened fire at him. One of Gogamedi's security personnel and another person were injured in the firing," Rajasthan Director General of Police (DGP) Umesh Mishra told PTI.

Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph told PTI that Gogamedi was rushed to a private hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Speaking to reporters, Joseph said, “There were three people here and they notified that they had to meet Sukhdev Singh Ji. After getting the security's approval, they talked to him (Sukhdev) for about 10 minutes and then fired at him.”

“The security guard standing next to him also got injured and is in ICU,” he further said.

“In the cross fire, one of the attackers has also died. His name is Naveen Singh Shekhawat and hails from Shahpura. We have CCTV footage and we hope that we will identify the two others,” Joseph said.
