New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against four operatives of the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terrorist organisation in connection with the 2024 Chandigarh grenade attack. The accused include Pakistan-based designated terrorist Harwinder Singh Sandhu, alias Rinda, and US-based Harpreet Singh, alias Happy Passia, who were the primary conspirators behind the attack.

According to the NIA, the investigation revealed that Rinda and Happy provided logistical support, funds, and weapons to local operatives in Chandigarh to execute the plan. The attack carried out in September 2024, targeted a retired Punjab police officer's residence. Further investigation exposed that Rinda and Happy recruited and directed local operatives Rohan Masih and Vishal Masih, who conducted recce before executing the grenade attack.

Global Network Of Terror

The NIA chargesheet has brought to light the global network of terror operatives involved in the attack. Rinda, a designated terrorist based in Pakistan, and Happy, a US-based operative, demonstrate the far-reaching arms of the BKI terrorist organisation. The investigation has also brought to the fore the role of local operatives in executing the attack, underlining the need for continued vigilance and cooperation between law enforcement agencies.

The NIA has chargesheeted all four accused under multiple sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Explosive Substances Act, and other related laws before the Special NIA Court in Chandigarh. As the investigation continues, the NIA seeks to dismantle BKI's terror network in India, bringing those responsible for the heinous attack to justice.
