Haryana: Footfall under 'Know Your Case' scheme continues upward trend

There is an increase in the number of persons visiting police stations and units to get the status of their cases under the 'Know Your Case' scheme.

An increase in the number of persons visiting different police stations and units to get the status of their cases or complaints under the 'Know Your Case' scheme has been witnessed in Haryana. According to the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Law and Order, Navdeep Singh Virk, in September this year, around 20,180 persons visited different police stations. This number is the highest in the first nine months of 2019. He further stated that out of the total number of people, 11,670 persons enquired about the progress in complaints and 8,510 obtained information about criminal cases.

Statistical data of Haryana 

According to the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), the maximum footfall witnessed has been in district Palwal where 3,101 people directly met the investigation officers and senior officers to enquire about the progress in pending complaints and criminal cases. This number is followed by Gurugram where 2,745 people enquired. On the other hand, in Faridabad, around 2,514 enquired about their cases or complaints.

Further, the Additional Director General of Police, Virk, gave a month-wise footfall of the statistics till August. According to him, 18,887 persons visited different police stations for enquiry in January. Further, 18,036 visited in the month of February, 19,396 in March, 18350 in April, 13,812 in May, 18,746 in June, 19,462 in July and 19,945 persons in the month of August. According to reports, the rise in footfall shows the steps towards transparent and public-oriented policing in the state.

About 'Know Your Case' scheme

Earlier, the Haryana police had launched a  'Know Your Case' scheme to bring greater transparency and accountability in the police functioning. According to reports, under this scheme, all Supervisory Officers, Station House Officers, Investigating Officers, as well as MHCs, are present in their respective police stations and units along with the latest status to attend the complainants.
