Chennai: The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin has advised all the newly-married couples in the state to have babies immediately and also give them Tamil names. The Tamil Nadu CM has warned the people that the parliamentary representation of the state may be altered because of the delimitation based on population.
‘Immediately Have Babies, Give Them Tamil Names’: Stalin's Advice to People
Amid the delimitation plans of the government, the Tamil Nadu CM has appealed to people to immediately have babies; he went on to say that good family-planning measures may now prove to be a bane for the state.
While addressing a gathering at a public event in Nagapattinam, Stalin mentioned how he first used to tell the newly-married couples of Tamil Nadu to plan their families and take their own time but now he wants them to have babies immediately.

In his words, “Earlier, I used to ask the newlyweds to take time before expanding their family. Now with the delimitation that the Union Government is planning to implement, such advice does not stand. We focused on family planning and controlled population. Now, I urge the newly married to immediately plan on having children, and give them Tamil names.”
What is the Delimitation Row in Tamil Nadu?
The Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin had called for an all-party meeting on March 5, to discuss delimitation in the state. Last month, Stalin had said that how family planning policies were successfully implemented in Tamil Nadu, have unfortunately become a disadvantage for the state. He went on to say that Tamil Nadu would lose eight of its MPs if delimitation is based on the population census, which in turn will be a loss for the state in terms of representation in the Parliament.

On Saturday, Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai had cleared his stance and had said that his party would not participate in the all-party meeting on the delimitation exercise scheduled for March 5. He accused Stalin of attempting to create ‘imaginary fears’ surrounding the issue.
In a letter to Stalin, Annamalai stated that his party strongly believed the Chief Minister had misinterpreted the delimitation exercise and called the all-party meeting a means to ‘spread your imagined fears and deliberately mislead people’ before any official announcement had been made.
