Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday took to Twitter and attacked Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar over his appalling statement that he gave on the rise of rapes in the state during his rally on Saturday.

The AAP chief posted a tweet in which he questioned the Haryana Chief Minister for his abysmal mindset over rape incidents in the state, reasoning it to be the cause behind rise in such activities.

In his tweet, Delhi CM wrote, 'If the CM of any state has such thinking then how can the girls be safe there? CM saheb is justifying rape. This is the reason for the rise in incident of rape in Haryana and the rapists are not being caught, they roam around freely.'

On November 17, the BJP leader, while speaking to the crowd, insensitively mentioned how incidents of rapes usually happen between people who know each other and that a mere argument provokes them to go file an FIR.

“In the incidences of rapes, it is believed that the rapes have risen, but in reality, the rapes have not increased. Rapes happened before, they happen even today but the concerns have grown.  But the biggest concern is that these incidents of rapes and eve-teasing, 80-90% happens between people who already know each other. A lot of these incidences are between people who usually hang-out together, but one day there is a little argument, they would get up and file an FIR- saying that this person raped me,” he said.

This is not the first time, that Khattar made misogynistic comments. Back in 2014, expressing concern over the rise of rapes in Haryana, the Chief Minister had said, "girls need to dress properly to prevent rapes."
