Video: Heavy Rain Lashes Delhi-NCR, More Showers Expected in Next 7 Days
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted light to moderate rain or thunderstorms for Delhi-NCR on Friday.

New Delhi: Heavy rain lashed parts of Delhi-NCR (National Capital Region) on Friday, June 28, bringing the much-needed relief from the heatwave conditions. Noida, Indirapuram and Central Delhi among other parts of Delhi-NCR received incessant rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning beginning in the early hours of Friday.
Delhi Logs 228.1mm Rainfall in 24 Hours
The national capital has registered 228.1mm rainfall in the past 24 hours in one of the wettest spells the capital has recorded in June. In three-hour period between 2.30 am and 5.30 am, Delhi saw over 150 mm of rainfall.
On Thursday, parts of Delhi received spells of heavy rainfall, bringing much-needed respite from the sweltering heat.
The incessant rainfall, leading to waterlogging in several parts, has almost brought the national capital to a standstill. The waterlogging has resulted in long traffic congestions in several areas, leading to inconvenience for commuters.
Weather Prediction for Delhi-NCR
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted light to moderate rain or thunderstorms for Delhi-NCR on Friday. The weather department had said that the temperatures will be similar to that of Thursday with wind speeds reaching up to 35 km/h.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted the weather for the next seven days in Delhi, predicting generally cloudy skies and varying intensities of rain accompanied by gusty winds.
