Mumbai: The Mumbai police successfully tracked down the man who allegedly made a threatening call to veteran industrialists and former TATA Sons chairman Ratan Tata.

An official said that the caller asked the police to heighten Ratan Tata's security, failing which would make the industrialist meet the same fate as former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry, who died in a car crash on 4 September, 2022.

Following the call, the department went into full alert mode and a special team was assigned to cater for the personal security of the industrialists, while another team was asked to collect information about the caller.

The officials were able to track down the anonymous with the help of technical support and telecom service providers.

The location of the caller was found in Karnataka but he was actually a resident of Pune. As the police reached the place, the officials found that the man had been missing for five days and an FIR was filed for the same by his wife.

Furthermore, the sleuths found that the accused made a call from someone's house, without informing them and rang up the control room of the Mumbai Police to threaten.

An official said since the caller suffers from schizophrenia they have decided against pursuing any legal actions against him.
