BJP Rajya Sabha MP Dr Subarmanian Swamy has aired his views on India's tremendous Wednesday achievement wherein the country became only the fourth in the world to establish its anti-satellite attack capabilities by successfully completing 'Mission Shakti'.

Taking to Twitter, Dr Swamy has concurred with the enormity and significance of the achievement and also highlighted the potential ramifications for India's national security, particularly vis-a-vis Pakistan.

He says that India's new capabilities to take out enemy satellites will blind Pakistan's electronic guidance for their fighter jets.

"Even Pakistan air force jets flying over Pakistan's territory can be shot down by blinded Pakistan radars."

Here's his tweet:

The completion of 'Mission Shakti', which entailed the launch of a ballistic missile from the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island launch complex off the Odisha coast and its successful hitting of a pre-determined defunct satellite occupying a Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) at a distance of 300 km just three minutes later catapulted India into the space super elite league. Only the US, Russia and China have been able to complete such a feat, with India becoming the fourth country to do so.

It was the Prime Minister who made the announcement to the people of India, in a live nation-wide address. He congratulated the scientists of DRDO and others who had been a part of the mission's success and took great care to highlight the indigenous nature of the achievement:

Republic Media Network has accessed the live footage of the A-SAT (anti-Satellite) missile's launch. Watch it here
