Mumbai: In a recent hit-and-run incident in Maharashtra, a speeding car struck an elderly man walking roadside in Buldhana district. A video of the accident caught on camera has been going viral on social media wherein the driver of the vehicle can be seen fleeing the scene. The accident took place on the Kudra Budruk Highway in Malkapur Taluka.
The victim, identified as Namdev Tukaram Kavde (58), was walking on the footpath when the car abruptly veered off its lane and struck him. The impact sent Kavde flying into the air before he landed a distance away. He died on the spot.
Buldhana Hit and Run:
After the incident, the car stopped a short distance away. The driver then exited the vehicle, looked around briefly, and fled the scene.
The police have launched an investigation into the case, suspecting that the incident may not have been a mere accident but a deliberate act.
The initial investigation revealed that the car involved in the accident was registered in Gujarat. Inspector Anil Gopal mentioned that the vehicle's registration number has been sent to the Regional Transport Office for identification of the owner.
Following a complaint from the deceased's cousin, the Malkapur police have filed a case.
