Bengaluru: I-T raids at residence of former Congress corporator

The I-T officials recovered Rs 42 crore from a flat in Bengaluru's RT Nagar belonging to former Congress corporator Ashwathamma.

The Income Tax department raided the Bengaluru residence of former Congress corporator Ashwathamma on Friday morning. The I-T officials carried out searches at two locations in RT Nagar. According to sources, the central agency during its searches found money from the flat of former corporator Ashwathamma. 

It has been learnt that Rs 42 crore was recovered from packed in carton boxes at a flat in Atmananda Colony in RT Nagar belonging to Ashwathamma.

Ashwathamma was a Congress corporator and is the relative of former MLA Akhanda Srinivasa Murthy.

Ashwathamma's husband Ambikapathi is the vice-president of the contractors association of Karnataka. Notably, Ambikapathi was also one of the important leader involved in making 40 per cent allegations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the past in the state in view of the state Assembly polls.
