IBPS Exam 2019: Eligibility criteria, notifications and updates

What is IBPS:

IBPS (Institute of Banking Personnel Selection) is an independent institute that offers recruitment and placement opportunities in the banking sector in India.  RBI, Finance Ministry of India, and NIBM are the governing bodies for IBPS. Additionally, Public Bank Representatives and insurance companies also have a say in the decision-making process. IBPS provides a systematic assessment by conducting around 250 examinations each year through multiple sessions. More than one crore applications are sent out for these exams each year.

IBPS Exams:

As of now, IBPS conducts four exams within a year.

IBPS SO:

This exam is for ‘Specialist Officers.’ This has two scales. Scale 1 SO provides grade management services in HR, IT, Marketing, Law, etc. Scale 2 requires specialization like MBA, PG, PGDBM, CFA, etc. and some work experience.

 IBPS Clerk:

Here, Preliminary and mains are two exams that are conducted for the clerical posts

IBPS PO:

This exam is for ‘Probationary Officers’. There are two exams for this post- preliminary and mains,  followed by an interview process.

IBPS RRB:

Group A personnel of scale 1, 2 and 3 and group B personnel are employed via this exam. All the required degrees and work experience is necessary to appear for this exam.

Eligibility criteria for IBPS exams:

 

  • The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree along with the knowledge of computers and the internet.
  • For candidates applying for special ranks like Law, Management, Accounting, IT, etc., a postgraduate degree, certificate course or council membership is mandatory.

IBPS notifications:

The official notification for IBPS Clerk 2019-20 exam was released on 12th September 2019. Based on the IBPS official calendar, IBPS Clerk preliminary exam for 2019 is scheduled on 07.12.2019, 08.12.2019, 14.12.2019 and 15.12.2019 and the mains examination is scheduled on 25.01.2020. Candidates must apply online to appear for any of these exams.
