IFS officer Vivek Kumar appointed Private Secretary to PM Modi
Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Vivek Kumar was appointed as private secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.

In a major administrative move, Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer Vivek Kumar has been appointed as Private Secretary to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday.
As per the memo shared by the government, IFS officer Vivek Kumar had previously served as the Deputy Secretary in the Prime Minister's Office. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet headed by the Prime Minister cleared the new assignment for Mr Kumar, who is currently serving as the Director in the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

As per the Centre's orders, Vivek Kumar's appointment is said to come into effect from the day of the assumption of charge. Furthermore, his tenure will on a co-terminus basis or until further orders.
Vivek Kumar, an officer of 2004 batch of Indian Foreign Service (IFS), has been appointed for a period of three years or until further orders. As per Kumar''s LinkedIn account, he holds a BTech degree in chemical engineering from IIT Bombay and has served in diplomatic positions in Russia and Australia.
Other administrative appointments:
A 1983 batch IAS officer of West Bengal cadre, Khulbe was working at the same level in the DoPT. On Wednesday the Government appointed senior IAS officer Bhaskar Khulbe as Additional Secretary in the PMO. Bhaskar Khulbe was appointed in place of R Ramanujam, who was working as Secretary in the PMO and retired on completion of his extended tenure.
In another move, Bharat Lal, a 1988 batch Gujarat cadre IAS officer, was transferred out of the office of the President of India to the Jal Shakti Ministry as an Under Secretary. Lal was serving as Additional Secretary in the President's Secretariat.
