New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday issued heavy to extremely heavy rainfall warnings in parts of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Goa and Maharashtra over the next two to three days. A red alert has been issued for several areas in these states. The weather department added this depression is likely to move to the south, southwest and some low-pressure areas located in Bangladesh and adjoining West Bengal areas. People are advised to avoid areas prone to waterlogging and check for advisories before travelling.

Delhi:

For Monday, August 26, the weather department has predicted light rains accompanied by thunderstorms in the national capital.

According to the weather bulletin, the sky is expected to remain cloudy with strong and gusty winds. The maximum temperature is likely to reach 34 degrees while the minimum temperature may hover around 25 degrees.

IMD Issues Red Alert:

The weather department issued a red alert for Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Rajasthan, Odisha, Jharkhand, Ganegtic West Bengal and Konkan.

The IMD has warned of strong winds reaching up to 50 kmph in Madhya Pradesh on August 26 and up to 60 kmph in south Rajasthan on August 26-27.

Meanwhile, in Gujarat, north Maharashtra, and the northeast Arabian Sea, strong and gusty winds upto  55 kmph are expected on August 26, increasing to 60 kmph on August 27 and 28.

Furthermore, rough to very rough sea conditions are likely anticipated in the coats of Gujarat, Pakistan, and north Maharashtra until August 30. Rough seas are also expected in the North Bay of Bengal on August 26.

The agency has also warned of potential localized flooding, road closures, and waterlogging, particularly in urban areas. There is a risk of landslides and damage to horticultural crops due to inundation in the affected regions.
