Monsoon Live: IMD Issues Red Alert in Central Maharashtra, Goa and Karnataka, Check Latest Update

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert due to the forecast of extremely heavy rainfall in several regions across the Western and Southern parts of India. 

The red alert is in effect for specific areas including Konkan, Goa, Coastal Karnataka, South Karnataka, Saurashtra & Kutch, and Madhya Maharashtra. 

Additionally, an orange alert has been issued for heavy rainfall in West Madhya Pradesh on July 16th, and in Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, and Telangana on July 18th and 19th.

Despite an ‘orange’ alert in place, Mumbai recorded moderate showers over the past 24 hours with the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) Santacruz observatory recording 49 mm rain between Monday and Tuesday morning while the Colaba station received 22 mm rain. City recorded 14 incidents of tree collapses in the past 24 hours, Civic body said.

The Met department has predicted heavy rains in Telangana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Chhattisgarh, and North Interior Karnataka from July 15 to 19.

• Heavy Rain Predicted in Parts of Maharashtra

The IMD has predicted heavy rain in several parts of Maharashtra, including Mumbai, on Tuesday (July 16). IMD has issued a red alert for Raigad and an orange alert for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Pune, Satar, and Kolhapur for tomorrow.
