In latest statement, Missionaries of Jesus targets Kerala nun, calls the rape case a ‘conspiracy against Bishop’

In continuance with its slander campaign against rape victim Kerala nun, Missionaries of Jesus has released its enquiry commission findings targeting the nun and those supporting her, calling it a ‘conspiracy’ against the Bishop, Franco Mulakkal.

In continuance with its slander campaign against rape victim Kerala nun, Missionaries of Jesus has released a statement, based on the findings of an enquiry commission formed by it, targeting the nun and those supporting her, and calling the rape case a ‘conspiracy’ against the Bishop, Franco Mulakkal. The Church body had formed a panel to probe the case, consequent to which it has released the statement, saying:

“The victim along with 5 other nuns and 4 other people have conspired against Bishop. These nuns have been influenced by thoughts of rationalists.”

CHURCH BODY ACCUSES NUN OF STEALING CCTV SYSTEM

The Church body has also accused the “nun and her friends” of tampering with the ‘visitors’ register’ and stealing the ‘CCTV system’.

“Victim’s friend was handling the visitors register in the convent, they must have tampered with this. The victim had forcefully taken control of the CCTV system from Mother Superior,” the Missionaries of Jesus said in the statement.

CHURCH BODY RELEASES THE PICTURE OF RAPE SURVIVOR

In the statement, the Church body has also alleged that in contrary to the claim of the nun, the Bishop didn’t stay in “Kuravilangad convent on May 5, 2014”. Further running a slander campaign against the nun, the statement said that since she was seen ‘enthusiastically’ attending a private function with the Bishop on May 23, 2015, it can be concluded that “there was no rape”.

In further bid to shame the victim, the Church body has even released a picture of nun sitting with the Bishop.

The statement comes three days after an 8-page affidavit submitted by Kerala Police's Investigating Officer regarding the Kerala Nun Rape Case to the Kerala High Court. The submitted document stated that as per initial investigation, the nun was repeatedly raped by Bishop Franco. Following the 8-page affidavit, the Kerala police submitted a second affidavit to the Kerala High Court inside a sealed cover. As per sources, the police had sought more time for the probe into the case.

Meanwhile on Tuesday, in an exclusive interview with Republic TV’s Editor News & Investigation Prema Sridevi, Bishop Franco Mulakkal said that he was ‘innocent’ and the allegations against him are ‘baseless and false’.The Bishop also accused the victim nun of “cooking up the story” to hide her own past.
