Delhi Pollution Levels Improve as Rain Lashes National Capital

Rain lashed parts of the national capital on Saturday, bringing down the pollution levels in the city. Delhi’s maximum temperature settled at 25.2 degrees Celsius, two notches below the season’s average, the India Meteorological Department said.

The city recorded a minimum temperature of 18.2 degrees Celsius, five notches above the season average, the weather office said.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) of the national capital was recorded in the "moderate” category with a reading of 114, according to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) at 18:00.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate, lay the foundation stone of and dedicate to the nation multiple development projects worth crores in West Bengal and Bihar on Saturday.

The Prime Minister who is on a two-day visit to three states, reached West Bengal's Arambagh on Friday afternoon where he launched several development projects and addressed a rally in Hooghly.

On Saturday, at around 10.30 am, the Prime Minister will reach Krishnanagar, Nadia district, West Bengal, where he will inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth Rs 15,000 crore.

Four National Highways Among 350 Roads Closed as Snow, Rain Lash Himachal

Snowfall in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh crippled daily life in the tribal Lahaul & Spiti and the Kinnaur districts while 350 roads, including four national highways in the state, were closed for traffic. The state's mid and low hills were lashed by intermittent rain while the Met office in Shimla has issued a red warning for thunderstorms with lightning, hailstorm and heavy rain at isolated places along with gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kilometres per hour on Saturday. Snowfall in the higher reaches of the Chamba, Kinnaur and the Lahaul & Spiti districts led to the closure of roads and transformers becoming non-functional.

Rain Lashes Delhi, Minimum Temperature Settles 5 Notches Above Normal

Rain lashed parts of Delhi early on Saturday even as the national capital's minimum temperature settled five notches above normal at 18.2 degree Celsius, the India Meteorological Department said. The Met office has predicted generally cloudy skies with light to moderate rain or thundershowers, accompanied by gusty winds during the day. The maximum temperature is likely to settled around 22 degree Celsius, it said. At 8.30 am, the humidity level was recorded at 76 per cent.
