The BJP, on Friday, alleged water wastage at Sriniwaspuri Ward in Kalkaji constituency amid an acute shortage of water in parts of Delhi. Rajpal Singh, BJP Councilor, Sriniwaspuri Ward told ANI, "This is clean water, which can be used for drinking, in Kalkaji constituency,  I am standing at Sriniwaspuri Ward's Sarai Jullena's multi-level parking 3rd floor. Lakhs of gallons of water flowing here...the Delhi Water Minister is unable to utilise this water...90% of their govt is in jail and their 2-4 people outside are ignorant. Through severe lakhs of litre water is flowing and getting wasted...how many families could get water from this?..."

Minister of Minorities Welfare of Tamil Nadu KS Masthan, on Friday, announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh for each of the kin of the deceased in the Kuwait fire tragedy. He said, "Seven people from Tamil Nadu died in the Kuwait fire incident. The CM expresses his deepest condolences and has decided to provide ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh per person."

Newly elected MLAs of Arunachal Pradesh took oath on Friday.

Pro-tem Speaker Ninong Ering administered the oath to the newly elected members during the inaugural day of the two-day special session summoned by Governor Lt Gen (Retd.) K T Parnaik.

11 of the newly elected MLAs took oath in Hindi.

59 of the 60 MLAs took oath during the day, while Ering was administered the oath by the governor on the previous day.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday arrested one person following massive searches across Nashik in Maharashtra in connection with the human trafficking and cyber fraud case.

Sudarshan Darade of Nashik is the sixth person to be arrested in the case in less than three weeks. NIA had earlier on 27th May 2024, arrested five other accused after multi-state searches in joint operations with the respective state police forces.

The 100-day plan includes the launch of the National Health Claims Exchange, a special drive against Tobacco use especially in young and adolescents, a National campaign against NCDs, deployment of Arogya Maitri Cubes, BHISHM, U- WIN portal for felicitation of registration of immunization for children, reported ANI citing sources. 
 

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's JD(U) on Friday announced its candidate for the Rupauli assembly constituency, where the resignation of multiple-term MLA Bima Bharti has necessitated a bypoll. The last date for filing of nomination is June 21 and voting will take place on July 10.
 

Odisha’s eight-time MLA Ranendra Pratap Swain was Friday administered oath as the Pro-tem Speaker of the assembly by Governor Raghubar Das.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi was also present at the Raj Bhavan here when Swain took oath.

"I was appointed as the Pro-tem Speaker on the recommendation of the CM,” Swain said.

A massive fire broke out on the third floor of a shopping mall in the southern part of Kolkata on Friday, prompting authorities to evacuate the building. All customers were evacuated. 

Upon receiving information, at least 10 fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the blaze which broke out at the mall in Kasba area around 12.15 pm, an official said

"As of now, there is no report of any injury. Firefighting operations are underway. Some firefighters have entered the building wearing oxygen masks," the official told PTI.

As mortal remains of Kuwait fire victims reached Kochi, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Friday said the deaths of Keralites are a never-ending loss for the affected families and demanded adequate compensation to the families from the Kuwaiti government.

"It is a never-ending loss for the families... The Government of Kuwait has taken effective and impeccable measures. It is expected that the follow-up will be flawless. When it came to know about the disaster, the Government of India also intervened in a proper manner in the case of those who died in the Kuwait disaster," the CM said.  

"It is hoped that the Kuwaiti government will take the lead in providing adequate compensation to the families. Government of India should also try to speed up in such matters," he added.

 Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Friday announced that he will vacate the Soreng-Chakung assembly constituency to represent the Rhenock seat.  The Sikkim Krantikari Morcha supremo was elected from the two seats in the recent assembly elections. The SKM swept the polls, winning 31 of the 32 constituencies.

In a post shared on FB, he said, “I apologise to the people of the Soreng-Chakung constituency as I have decided to step aside, allowing an honest and loyal party functionary to serve you as your legislator."

"Tomorrow, 15th June, marks the last day for this decision. Thus, with a heavy heart, I must make this crucial announcement, today," Tamang added in the Facebook post. 

At least two personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) were injured after an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by the Naxalites went off in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district on Friday, the police said.

The incident occurred at around 6:30 am in the forest near Kutul village under the Kohkameta police station area when an official said that a team of ITBP’s 53rd battalion was out on an area domination operation, PTI reported.

The IAF flight carrying mortal remains of Indians who died in a Kuwait fire incident lands at Cochin International airport, PTI reported. 

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan arrives at the Cochin International Airport where the special IAF aircraft carrying the mortal remains of 45 Indian victims in the fire incident in Kuwait will reach shortly.
