Haldwani violence | Uttarakhand court sends all 25 accused to 14 days judicial custody

Union Minister Smriti Irani on Monday made big allegation against the TMC leader Sheikh Shahjahan, who is absconding after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) tried to raid his premises. “Husbands were told, you may be the husband but you have no right on your wife. You will not be spared unless TMC men are satisfied from your wife, TMC men would say,” said Smriti Irani. 

She further added, “Section 144 have been imposed in Sandeshkhali to prevent women from speaking out the horror they faced.” 

After resigning from Congress, Former Maharashtra CM Ashok Chavan said, "I have resigned from the Assembly membership as an MLA. I have given my resignation to the Speaker. I have resigned from the Congress Working Committee and Congress primary membership. I have not decided to join any party. I will clear my stand on joining a party after two days."

On leaving JKNC and joining BJP, Dr Shenaz Ganai said, "... BJP is an organisation which has fulfilled all promises it made to the people of India. Recently you saw, our long pending demand of reservation for the ST community of J&K. Reservation has empowered these communities. People of the region now believe that BJP is the only party which will strengthen and empower the common man."

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal along with Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann arrived in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya, to offer prayers at Ram Temple today.

Many other senior Congress leaders are expected to resign from the party after ex-Maharashtra CM Ashok Chavan quit in mega blow to the grand old party. 

Senior Congress politician and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan met speaker Rahul Narwekar on Monday and resigned from the party and as an MLA, claimed sources. 

Kolkata | Six BJP leaders, including West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, and Agnimitra Paul, suspended for the remainder of the West Bengal Assembly session over "unruly and disorderly behaviour inside the Assembly." They have been suspended under Rule 348 of the State Assembly. The motion was moved by Sovandeb Chattopadhyay, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs of West Bengal and placed before the House by the Speaker and the motion was passed.

During the event, he said, "The work of giving government jobs to the youth has been going on with great speed. It used to take a lot of time from advertisement to actually giving them the job during the rule of previous governments. Bribery used to happen seeing the delay in the work. We have made the recruitment process transparent."

Mathura: A horrific accident took place on Yamuna Expressway in Mahavan police station area on Monday. Here the sleeper class bus collided with the divider. Meanwhile, the car coming behind the bus collided with the bus. A fire broke out when both the vehicles collided with each other. This Monday morning, the bus going towards Noida went out of control and collided with the divider at Mile Stone 117 of Yamuna Expressway in Mahavan police station area. Before the villagers could reach the bus, the car coming from behind collided with the accident bus. After the collision between the bus and the car, both the vehicles caught fire. The car and the bus started burning in the flames. 

Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi boycotted the first state assembly session of the TN government on Monday.

The Governor refused to give his speech and leaves the assembly. Last year Governor skipped parts of the speech and immediately a resolution was passed against him by CM.
 

West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose leaves for Sandeshkhali in North 24 Parganas district. A protest erupted in Sandeshkhali on Sunday following the arrest of CPI(M)'s Nirapada Sardar. The Left Front has criticised the arrest of Sardar and threatened to launch an agitation across West Bengal, demanding the arrest of some local TMC leaders accused of perpetrating atrocities on villagers in Sandeshkhali.

Police arrested 25 people on Sunday in connection with the violence that erupted in Uttarakhand's Haldwani over the demolition of an "illegally built" madrasa and an adjoining mosque in Banbhoolpura. This takes the total arrests in the case to 30 with five already held by the police.

Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand government has sought more central forces for deployment in Haldwani, officials told PTI news agency. Four companies -- containing about 100 personnel each -- of the Central Paramilitary Forces have been sought to be deployed in Banbhoolpura.
