On the construction of the country's first 'Dedicated Test Railway Track', North Western Railway CPRO Captain Shashi Kiran said, "Indian Railway's first dedicated test track is being built in Rajasthan under the North Eastern Railways, near Jodhpur's Sambhar Station. It is a 64km dedicated test track. High-speed rolling stock would be tested at the speed of 220 kmph. It is being built in two phases at the cost of Rs. 820 crores. It would be complete by December 2025. The work for 27 km is complete... Not just the Indian Railways, but we would be able to test the rolling stocks of foreign countries also..."

A BJP delegation led by its state chief K Annamalai on Monday met Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi, seeking a CBI probe into the Kallakurichi hooch tragedy that left 53 people dead.
In a post on 'X,' Annamalai claimed that 60 lives have been lost due to the tragedy and also urged Ravi to direct Chief Minister M K Stalin to drop his cabinet colleague S Muthusamy, who holds the Prohibition and Excise portfolio, holding him 'responsible' for the episode. "We also requested the Governor to insist to the Chief Minister to remove the Prohibition and Excise minister," Annamalai added.
