The Haj Suvidha App was launched by the Centre, and a Haj 2024 Guide released by Smriti Zubin Irani, Minister for Minority Affairs.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has registered a case in the Bengaluru Rameswaram Cafe Blast Case. NIA will take up the investigation in the next two days. A case has been registered under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Explosives Substances Act.

In an exclusive conversation with Republic, Subhash Chander, the father of 19-year-old missing sailor Sahil Verma said, “I was told my son had gone missing so the search operations (to trace him) were on. I asked the officials how could someone disappear from their ship. They are themselves confused.”

Calcutta High Court judge Abhijit Gangopadhyay said on Sunday that he will resign from his post on March 5. 

In 2022, Abhijit Gangopadhyay directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to probe alleged irregularities in recruitment of teachers and non-teaching staff in government schools in West Bengal.

In a significant development in the Sandeshkhali incident, a fact finding team led by Former chief justice of Patna High Court, L Narasimha Reddy visited to some villages in West Bengal's Sandeshkhali. 

The fact-finding team covered three places in Sandeshkhali and interacted with locals of Majherpara who revealed their grievances. The general complaint was related to Shahjahan's mafia and his aides Uttam Sardar and others over land grabbing incidents. Money sharks were also snatching money from people. Their contribution was being given to the TMC government," said fact-finding team.

West Bengal's Sandeshkhali has been witness to widespread protests over allegations of sexual atrocities and land grab by local TMC leaders. 
 

Kolkata: Bhavana, a member of the fact-finding team, spoke to ANI about the troubling situation in Sandeshkhali. She describes the incident as ‘heart wrenching’. Bhavana mentioned difficulties faced in gathering facts due to government protection and police interference. “They don't want the facts to come to light”, Bhavana said.

Despite obstacles, the team aims to support victims and ensure their voices are heard.

Karnataka: Deputy Chief Minister, DK Shivakumar, addressed concerns regarding the explosion at Bengaluru's The Rameshwaram Cafe on Sunday. The Deputy CM said,"Police are investigating, the government has given free hand to them. The government has taken the issue seriously...It is a shame that BJP has forgotten what happened during their time, I don't like to do politics on such an issue. Let them do whatever politics they are doing. They are spoiling the honour of the state. In such a context, we should be aware of the unity and peace of the people of this country..."

We have collected several CCTV footage. We are examining every angle including if there is any jealousy factor. I also appeal to the opposition to cooperate with us and not to make this a political issue...We do not know if there is any connection with the Mangaluru blast. They have used a similar material and the same system technically. Yesterday NSG arrived here. We will definitely find the person. We had a meeting yesterday and briefed the CM. Today, I have called a meeting of all the senior officers. BJP should not issue negative statements...”

Kolkata: A committee led by former Chief Justice of Patna High Court, Justice L Narsimha Reddy (Retd), is set to investigate human rights violations in Sandeshkhali. The team, which includes retired IPS officer Raj Pal Singh, advocate Charu Wali Khanna, and former NHRC registrar OP Vyas, will visit three areas: Majher Para, Natun Para, and Naskar Para Ras Temple. 

Their mission is to talk to victims and compile a report. This report will be given to the Indian authorities. The committee aims to shed light on the situation and seek justice for those affected. They are scheduled to visit on Sunday.

Kolkata: A fact-finding team on human rights violations arrives at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport. The team ready to probe the reported abuses and cases of violence will proceed directly to Sandeshkhali from the airport.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to lead a meeting of the Union Council of Ministers on Sunday, which is expected to be the final one during his government's second term, with Lok Sabha elections anticipated for April-May. The meeting, scheduled for 9:30 am at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan in Delhi, is important as the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by the BJP, aims to continue its tenure for a third term. 

The Election Commission is likely to announce the poll schedule soon. In 2014, elections were announced on March 5 and results declared on May 16, while in 2019, the schedule was announced on March 10, with results declared on May 23.
