Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir government has announced the reopening of schools and colleges in non-border areas following a review of the security situation.
India has decided to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty with Pakistan until Islamabad permanently ends its support for cross-border terrorism. The Ministry of External Affairs said the decision reflects growing frustration over Pakistan’s continued backing of terror networks. “The treaty will remain in abeyance until Pakistan credibly and irreversibly stops aiding cross-border terrorism,” the MEA said.
The Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday accused Pakistan of running terrorism on an “industrial scale” and warned Islamabad to accept a new security reality after India’s military operations. “The terrorist infrastructure that India targeted was not only responsible for killing Indians but also claimed lives across the world,” the MEA said. It reiterated India’s right to act against cross-border terror and added, “There is now a new normal, and the sooner Pakistan gets used to it, the better.” This comes days after India’s precision strikes in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and elsewhere following the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians.
