Bengaluru: Software giant Infosys has terminated approximately 30 to 45 trainees from its Mysuru campus on March 26 after they failed to pass internal assessments.

However, the company has offered alternative career paths to the affected trainees, including a 12-week training program for potential roles in Infosys Business Process Management (BPM).

According to reports, Infosys is also providing a one-month ex-gratia payment along with a relieving letter to all impacted trainees.

For those who do not wish to opt for the BPM course, the Bengaluru-based company has offered to fund additional training to help them explore other career opportunities.

The termination email stated that despite several mock assessment opportunities, the trainees failed the final assessment attempt.

“Further to the announcement of the results of your final assessment attempt, please be informed that you have not met the qualifying criteria in the ‘Foundation Skills Training Program’ despite the additional preparation time, doubt-clearing sessions, and several mock assessment opportunities,” the email read.

Infosys has also arranged transportation from Mysuru to Bengaluru and is providing a standard travel allowance.

The affected trainees can avail accommodation at the Employee Care Centre in Mysuru until their departure. Infosys has asked trainees to submit their travel and accommodation preferences by March 27 if they wish to leave the campus.

Infosys has not yet issued an official statement on the development.

Previous Layoffs by Infosys

This termination comes just months after the company laid off hundreds of trainees from the same Mysuru campus, sparking widespread controversy. The trainees had accused the company of forceful termination.

However, the Karnataka Labour Department cleared Infosys of any labour law violations related to the exit of trainees, based on the documentary evidence collected.

The Union Labour Ministry had also intervened, instructing the Karnataka Labour Commissioner to investigate the case.
